Hi WOWsters
and friends of the club,
I'd
like to welcome you to our web site! The current site is
being managed by Jeff King and run through the
server of John Barresi. Take a long hard look at all the
information, photos and competition/demo videos available on
our brethren's excellent site. We are very excited about our
new site and our association with
Kitelife.com
WOW is seeking interesting photos of each member, their
kites and accomplishments. If you have something worthy to
contribute, please get in touch with Beth at your earliest
possible convenience!
Wings Over Washington is one of the premier clubs in
the USA offering lessons in flight, construction of kites,
general camaraderie and flying places to share our passion.
We welcome new additions to our club and remember the day
when we joined-up ourselves. As the president of WOW
(during the 2005-07 seasons and now the upcoming 2008
season) I've enjoyed a great
relationship with many individuals. Our club can always use
another fan of the wind though, or the complete lack of it
in the summer months around the Mid-Atlantic states.
Bookmark our calendar page and refer to it often, if you
would enjoy flying with a group instead of alone.
Personally I find it much more rewarding, . . . sharing our
love of the wind, our kites, sometimes even our lunch boxes!
Given a choice, we fly as group the First Sunday of each
month downtown on the mall of the nations' capitol (when
it's accessible to us!). We are located near a huge tree on
the west side of the Washington Monument. Parking, security
and safety are the critical issues, if we wish to remain on
this prized terrain.
Stakes
and ground posts are not allowed and no kites can fly during
the helicopter arrivals at the White House either. Flying
over the spectators is discouraged, but frequently takes
place anyway. Come down and join us!!! We are there from
early morning until late afternoon, regardless of the
weather. There are always crowds too, so come prepared to
share your kites, your comments and most importantly, your
enthusiasm.
Otherwise an email is sent to the membership advising on our
next location. A posting is generally also made (as a
banner on the home page) announcing our location for the
next First Sunday Fly. Refer often to our calendar and come
out to meet/join the gang.
Best regards,
Paul R. LaMasters
